Tim Walz, Kamala Harris’s VP pick, is stumbling under the weight of expectations for the upcoming debate against Republican JD Vance, CNN reported.
Walz has already admitted, “I’m not a natural debater”, raising doubts about Harris’s judgment in selecting him. Even Sen. Amy Klobuchar concedes, “He’s just not a lawyer-debater type”, while Vance labeled him “an out-of-touch liberal” who’s unprepared to handle America’s challenges.
Vance is expected to expose Walz’s vulnerabilities on key issues like crime and economic policy in Minnesota, where Walz’s handling has been widely criticized.
During his COVID-19 response, for example, businesses closed while unemployment soared, and crime rates surged, leaving many Minnesotans frustrated. Walz’s past debate performances also left voters wondering if he can handle tough policy discussions.
Instead of addressing these failures, Walz’s team plans to deflect criticism by focusing on Trump’s policies and resurrecting the tired Project 2025 narrative.
This move appears more like desperation than strategy, as Vance confidently stated, “Walz is the wrong choice for a crucial moment in American history. He’s aligned with policies that have failed the middle class.”
With Trump opting out of the next presidential debate, citing early voting, the pressure is squarely on Walz.
